Katie Nguyen Kalvoda is the Founder of Advance OC, one of the nation’s leaders in the new field of equity mapping. Advance OC has a mission to close social and health disparities in Orange County and beyond. We specialize in giving visibility to marginalized and vulnerable communities by working on public-private initiatives that center data-centric, equity-oriented strategies.
As a social entrepreneur, impact investor and philanthropist, Katie catalyzes change by breaking down silos and bridging systems to pool data, dollars, and action. Katie is the chief architect of the Orange County Equity Map, an award-winning data intelligence tool that accurately spotlights social and health disparities in neighborhoods across Orange County. Katie is regarded as a thought leader in the field of health equity, public policy, and data science. She has been interviewed and quoted in national publications including the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Philadelphia Enquirer, and Governing magazine.
Along with her work at Advance OC, Katie is also a Board Member of the Weingart Foundation, Mission Hospital Foundation, the Sisters of St Joseph Healthcare Foundation where she serves on the Finance and Investment Committee leading strategies to optimize impact at each of the organizations. In addition, Katie is an appointed Board Member of the California Health Facilities Financing Authority by the Speaker of the CA Assembly, to oversee publicly financed grants and loans to nonprofit hospitals and community clinics across the state of California. Her work on the CHFFA board has allowed her to have a bird’s eye view of the challenges of equitable access to care across all 58 counties in California and be on the front lines of issues ranging from healthcare workforce development to mental health.
Katie studied at UC Berkeley and MIT in the fields of Economics and Artificial Intelligence.
